3rd Grade
Instructor: Ms. MacGhee   
Important events for the last week of school:

Monday - field day from 10:00 - 11:30.
Tuesday - third grade ice cream sundae party. Remember, you can earn a volunteer hour for sending in a topping for the ice cream.
Wednesday-talent show at 2:00.
Thursday-End of the year read-in: bring in your favorite book, magazine or comic to share with your classmates.
Friday - Last day of school. Dismissal is at 11:00. They will be serving lunches in the cafteria before the students leave. Your son/daughter can buy lunch if they want to.

Studyisland.com is a great website for your son/daughter to practice for the Standards of Learning tests. The username and password is their student id/library number.

Please encourage your child to practice the multiplication facts at home every night.

Also please be sure your son/daughter is reading books, on their reading level, at home every night. If you are not sure what reading level your child is on, please email or call me here at school.


We are running low on hand sanitizer. If you can, please donate a bottle to our classroom. Thank you!

Third Grade Fiction Book List
Please continue to encourage your son/daughter to read every night. Below is a list of some book titles and authors appropriate for third graders to be reading. Ask your child about the book as they are reading. You can ask them who the characters are in the story, where the story takes place (setting), what the story is about, what the problem is in the story, and the order the events happened (plot - beginning, middle and ending). Also, see the attached list of authors and books sent to me from Ms. Duffy, our librarian.

Geronimo Stilton – these can be slightly challenging. They range from 2nd to 4th grade reading level.

Books by Patricia Polacco, Mrs. Katz and Tush, Thank you Mr. Falker, Just Plain Fancy)– some of her picture books are on a 4th grade reading level and higher so be sure to check the reading level.
